Meet Penelope: The Grumpy Yet Lively Miniature Pig
Penelope may be a miniature pig, but at 150 lbs, she’s anything but “mini”! This spirited lady came into our lives when her previous owners had to move across the country and sadly couldn’t take her along. Miniature pigs like Penelope often find themselves surrendered because, let’s face it, they outgrow their “mini” label pretty quickly!
Now, let’s talk about the reality of having these adorable creatures in your home. Sure, they’re cute as piglets (trust me, they’re the cutest!), but as they grow, so do their mischievous antics. Our piggies at the farm have a knack for chewing baseboards, wreaking havoc on the lawn, raiding the garden, and turning shrubs and plants into their personal buffet. Living with a “house hippo” is undeniably charming, but it does come with its share of challenges.
It’s crucial to understand that piggies, like Penelope, have an innate need to forage and explore. While this might lead to some destructive behavior from our perspective, it’s simply their natural instinct. So, before you consider bringing a pet pig into your home, do your research and ensure that you can provide an environment that allows them to live according to their natural tendencies.
Penelope may be grumpy at times, but she’s also full of life and personality. She reminds us to appreciate the quirks of these incredible creatures and to create spaces that honor their true nature.
